Congratulations to you and your son. What a nice car for him to start driving in and if he keeps it up, it is a car he can drive with pride for years and it should go up in value. What a lucky young man.

Congrats on joining. This is for SC300/400 vehicles so the SC430 is a different thread.

Me and my son also inherited Dads SC400, also a 93 and also the same color as Jkarhan1's! 200K now and the driver door interior panel broke at the arm rest. Not repairable, looking for a so.cal part out as every time I see one in a salvage yard, they are already stripped to the frames. Carful with the paint, make sure you wax it or park it under something as the clearcoat will start to delaminate especially on the trunk, top and nose piece.

The garage may be able to lein sell it for back rent. I think the process is the last registered owner or estate (deceased) has 30 days to claim it after the DMV or police send a letter of abandonment and then you may be responsible for back registration only. I bought a truck from a mechanic under a lien sale BE WARNED the lien seller is NOT responsible for smogging it prior to transferring registration in California. This is the only case where the seller is not responsible for this but titles can be transferred (non running, scrap, salvage, etc)

New SC400 in Texas
So, there it is. A true Japanese classic in my garage, the 2000 Lexus SC400. The brakes are shot and I had to replace the tail light bulbs.
It’s getting new rotors and brake pads on Wednesday along with an oil change. This will enable me to pass inspection and get it registered in Texas.
Next will be a timing belt service. I’ll also need to get the fog lights looked at because they don’t work and finally a full detail service. The paint is in great shape and the leather has some cracks but no tears yet. So, they are salvageable.
I’m very excited to drive it.

Introduction!
Hi everyone,
came across clublexus trying to fix all the awful things done to my 1992 Sc400 before i owned it. Bought a pretty rough shape sc from a friend that was very abused for $800. Engine and trans are mint, and almost everything works. Car was (still will be) a drift build but I want to return it to looking nice. Came on godspeed coils and w/ welded diff. Body and interior were pretty trashed. Interior was mostly gutted.
So far, with the help of my friends,
Replaced:
Drivers Side Door (collision damage)
Passenger Headlight
Passenger Fender
Rear Emblems
Drivers Seat
Center Console Trim
Cupholder
Ashtray
Center Console Lid
Rear Seats + Seatbelts
Passenger Tailight
Lexus Rear Emblem
Hood Shocks
Trunk Liner
Slowly it is coming all together. The rear damage is going to have another sc rear welded on, as it is too far gone to save. Lots of other small things to replace in order to make it look way nicer.

New Member 14yo first car
My 14yo son’s first car.
My 18 and 14yo sons and I have been lurking here for a while. So much great info. We just picked up a pretty clean ‘93 SC300. We have been thinking about what car would best suit my younger son.
I have an Infiniti Q50 and my older son has a ‘74 ‘Vette. Of course, I was thinking that a NissanZ or Infiniti G35/37 would be good choices for him, since I love my VQ so much.
They thought that those were too common. They wouldn’t even consider a Civic for a second. He likes exotics but he can’t quite afford a Performante just yet.
We all, including my wife, agreed on a SC300, They look great, not as common at the car meet-ups and so prime for tuning with the much lauded 2JZ. It was way harder than we thought to find one.
My 18yo is interning at a local shop, where they’re working on his ‘Vette. He had them take a look at it and they said it was good to go. His guy at the shop has done a lot of turbo builds and has tons of ideas for it.
We want all of the usual upgrades, wheels, tires, coilovers, turbo kit… on and on. So many choices, it’s tough-but that’s also the fun of it.

Very cool first car! As I'm sure you've ready plenty of times these are a great starting block for all kinds of builds. Looks to be a nice clean piece to start with as well. Congrats and welcome to you and your boys!

New to the Forum & Lexus community
Just recently bought a 93' SC300 Royal Jade Pearl 4 speed auto that's damn near bone stock, just has a HKS air intake.
planning on addressing some leaks then doing a single turbo street build, coil overs, wheels and all that.
Eventually want to swap out of the 4 speed transmission.
I'm unsure which route I want to go really when it comes to which tranny, what brand turbo, & what I'll need to ensure reliability because that's the main focus for me.
But I'm excited to be here and see what knowledge I can soak or give! Along with seeing everyone's dope builds!
