Default sc300 trunk problem

I need help getting into my trunk. My key won't work so I went to the dealership and they said my key was a valet key so they gave me the master one. Still didn't work!! And neither does the switch inside the car. Any ideas what I can do to open it??

So......... just as a check, is the trunk lock engaged? Stick the key in and turn it to see.

Also, "doesn't work" isn't very definitive. Does the motor even try to open the trunk when you hit the switch?

Sounds like the clip for the lock is broken or slip off the actuator. Its a little clip that clips onto a rod. Or you can have a dead actuator. Should be a way to get to it. You may have to remove the firewall from the back of the rear seat and somehow get around the gas tank to pull down the carpet to check it. Good luck. Like O.L.T. said also check to see if the trunk lock isn't engaged. It's the key switch to the left at the bottom of the steering wheel for LHD and to the right at the bottom for RHD

My SC's trunk lock(the one on the tail light) does not work anymore. It's almost like it locked itself up after not being used at all in the 200k mile long life it's had. I don't need it though because i just use the remote or front switch(while it's not engaged as OLT mentioned.)

Hmmm.... My '92 SC300 trunk lid unlocking mechanism just started acting up. I have to slightly jiggle the key a bit until it will twist (to the right) to open the latch.

The switch on the console still works, though.

I don't hear anything when I push the button. And neither of the keys I have will open it from the key hole in the back. And the keys won't find in the lock switch inside either. Someone told me just to break the lock on the trunk and get another one put on after a opened it.

You can't have the trunk re-keyed unless you know which was replaced, the master or the lock. Try to lock the glovebox with your key and see if it fits that as well so you know what you are dealing with... a key issue or a lock issue.
