If interested, let me know and I'll send you a PM with a SC 300 5 speed, that is marked under 3k...the plus is it's located near you and you'll have some wiggle room on the price? Either way good luck!
Thanks for the offer but I'm not looking to buy one until late May. I'm not looking for big modds. I still want to use this car for everyday. Im probably going to get a 98-2000 year 400. My goals are around 350 ponies, putting a LSD, a new exhaust, new wheels, bigger brakes and that's about it.

Yea I hate the 'search button police', they are in almost every thread and its really annoying.

Technically eveyrthing has been covered before and google can give you almost any answer you need so maybe we shouldnt make any new threads at all, see how they would like that.

not sure if your aware but 98-00 sc400's are very rare and much more expensive then the older years, but they are worth it in my opinion, i just hope your able to find one when your ready to purchase.

i am not sure how easy it is to crack 350hp on those. i know they came with 300 crank hp. if you are wanting 350 at the wheels. ur gonna have to open that wallet.

some of those 2000 models go for well over 12k in great condition. good luck to ya bro

yeah the new ones are defiantly quite a bit more pricey. but its not really a bad idea because these cars are very expensive to fix up, so i wouldent go looking for one that needs alot of work. i would just spend the money the first time and get a very very clean one. just me though.

350 ponies eh? Thats damn near impossible if you're not willing to do extensive modding like forced induction or aftermarket internals, cams, ecu, ITB's, etc. With just bolt ons(headers, exhaust, intake) you'll be lucky to put down more than 200whp.

Edit: Just noticed you said a 98-00 so the vvti 1uz. Your still gonna be looking at probably 220whp give or take a few.

So far this car looks to give me a good balance of sportiness, luxury, and reliability. I have some questions to owners.
• How reliable is it? If something does tend to break, what is it?
• Is it a good choice as an everyday car?
• Will the RWD work in snow? (I live in Michigan)
• What are some “must have” performance parts?
• Will these performance parts affect my reliability?
• I know the 98-2000 years have 30 more ponies, but are they a better choice than the 92-1997?
• Is it a bad idea to buy one with over 100K on it?

Thanks everybody!
Some answers to your questions from a 98 sc 400 owner.

They are super reliable. If you get one with low miles like I did you won't have to worry about anything breaking. It's an excellent choice for an everyday car, you can't beat 19/25 mpg for a V8! This car is not so great in snow, it will ok with really good tires. Stay away from performance parts and look for one that has always been stock like mine. The 98 sc400 with vvt-i is BIG difference from the 92-97, I had a 92 sc300 and it's like night and day. Try to get one under 100k miles if you can. I might be selling mine, I love mine so I don't want to get rid of it though but I want to get a new tacoma and don't want to have to park the new tacoma outside b/c the SC stays garaged!
