This is a Lexus we're talking about. Don't buy a "Wal-Mart" type car cover. Spend the extra money on a nice car cover. www.covercraft.com

Screw the covers, I just wax my car every three months to keep the water beading off my car and the dust/dirt isolated on a thin film of waxy shine Works like a charm.

Default TWO reminders in one thread!

Well, once again (that's twice in a single thread) we are reminded that we are talking about Lexus cars here.

Oh- so THAT is what the big "L" on my key stands for!

But what has yet to be explained to me is why this particular brand must not suffer the indignity of utilizing a product purchased at the world's largest retailer. Too late- almost all the oil, wax, leather treatment, brake fluid, etc. my car has ever seen comes from WallyWorld. And I'll proudly admit I bought most of it on sale. Or, even better, off the clearance table.

Of course it is much easier to go to the Lexus dealer and say, "Here is all my money. Take it and provide my car with the finest parts, accessories and service". You'll get it, too- I'm not arguing that. As soon as I win the Lottery, I'll be doing the same thing!

But until then, the major reason I am on this web page is to get and give information on more affordable alternatives.

Talking Hmmm....I want a car cover

Are the Wallyworld ones OK?
I just want a cover to put on the car when it snows out.....it wont be on when its warm out or not snowing out.
I think most people who pay $150 for a car cover pay that because they put the cover on everyday and thus want a real good quality material.
Anyways, what you think?

I read that before I posted but it doesnt address my question.
You dont want something so baggy that it is going to flap in the wind.
Now apparently you dont want something so tight that it wont allow the car to breathe.
So Perry....can 4 be fitted onto the SC so that it wont flap aroudn and scratch the car?
Or is it too baggy?

Actually Perry...let me rephrase...will size 3 let the car breathe?
Id rather go with the size that is supposed to go with the car.
Also is the one you got waterresistant or waterproof-theres a diff.

Size 3 is tight. You want mine? It breathes just fine. The material is porous, yet repels water.

I have the Budge Knytex Size 3, and it seems to be just right for my car. Maybe, because of production variances and a bit of stretching with usage, my size 3 is just a few inches longer than awj's. Here's how it now fits:

I prefer having someone to help me, but I can put it on myself by first "hooking" the rear of the cover over the spoiler, then pulling it over the front air dam, then walking around the whole car once to tuck it in right.

It rained a few weeks ago and it is indeed water-resistant, not water-proof - my car got wet. But I use mine to keep the dust off and the sun out during the long dry summers here. I usually don't bother with a cover over the wet winters here in LA.

But the Kyntex cover has served me well over the summer, survives machine washings, and since I only paid $13 for it on eBay ($17, if you include shipping), is the bargain of the year!

My initial thought is that I wouldn't bother with a cover, if all it was for was to protect the car from snow, but what do I know? It's been decades since I've lived in a climate where it snows!

I bought the Lexus cover from irontoad.com. It is nice and of course it fits right. But it almost blew away one windy day. There is a tie down method but I was just relying on the snug fit. I'm saying if you are not going to tie it down, forget it staying on during a snow storm. Especially a generic version.
And if you are going to tie it down, you are going to be working on the ground. In the winter.
Snow is harmless. Of course, I guess I like the stuff.
The sun, now, that's another matter.

Default Padded car cover?

I did a lot of searching, but couldn't find quite what I was looking for...

My SC has been garaged her whole life, and I just found out that I will have to live in the dorms when I go to Air Force pilot training. Needless to say, the government doesn't care that I have a Lexus and would like to own a garage...This all comes right after I give her the complete Zaino treatment and having her looking better than new.

So, it looks like it's going to be outside, in North Texas, notorious for hail storms.

Question is, does anyone have any experience with a really nice car cover they have used? I can't seem to find any padded covers anywhere...do they exist?

I read some threads talking about a $30 cover from Wal-Mart...but as this is my baby, and this will have to be sort of a garage replacement, money really is not a factor.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Car covers (along with almost everything else pertaining to our cars), has been discussed before. Try a search.
