Yea thats why I joined this forum, cause like its my first Lexus, my first Toyota, my first v8 car, my first rear wheel drive car, first luxury haha.... So deff different from my DSM's, if you don't know what a DSM is, its a Eclipse, Talon, Laser. etc. Cool cars, pretty quick, horribly unreliable hunks of junk.

I just went thru replacing remote keys for my 92 SC400. Lexus can cut keys from your VIN number. Non-remote are around $60 or so. I ordered a pair of remote keys from Sewell. They cut and shipped for $320. The remote keys include a chip that must be installed in the ECU. I found a thread here that showed how to access the ECU and replace the chip. You have to remove the rear seat and rear back (easy to do) to be able to remove the rear passenger side molding. The ECU is mounted behind that molding. Easy to then remove the ECU and replace the chip. Put it all back together and you've just saved $300 in labor that Lexus wants to do that job.
The 03 SC300-400 have the same key set-up as the 02. Later models (after 05 or 06 or so) had a more sophisticated remote key and I don't think you had to replace a chip in the ECU.
This is the best way to go is you need to replace the keys. By the way, once you change the chip you old keys won't work. The chips are key specific.

I have been wondering what a cost for something like this would be if I ever got myself into that situation. I have an SC300 and an SC400 but I only got one key with them at the time of purchase. As such, I'm glad that for a non chipped key, it's not to terribly bad to have a copy made.
