Default No heat but AC is fine

Hi all,
My heater is not working for some reason. I noticed it last winter ( I live in Florida). My AC is fine and cold. Any suggestions? I turn on the heater when the engine is warmed up and no heat. "Winter" is approaching!!
thanks much
Rob

Yep, i have that same problem but haven't gotten around to changing it because I think this unit costs about $275.

The heater control valve solenoid...

Default early

The early cars had a mchanically actuated hot water flow valve located on the top center of the firewall just behind the engine. It was operated by the mixing vane (blend door) servomotor via a push/pull cable through the firewall. Check to make sure the cable hasn't slipped off and that it is driving the valve full open in max heat position. Or in summertime fully closed in max cool.

Also, the heater is victim to vapor lock. Keep the coolant level full and 50/50. If its dirty, change it!

On the SC they used the electronic vacumm control valve, not the cable. It's located on the passenger side of the engine, next to ABS actuator. The VSV(Vacumm switching valve) on top of the heater valve is gone bad.

Can you just replace the VSV or do you have to replace the whole thing.

BTW, for those who are wondering, its the little assembly that has two heater hoses leading into the firewall.
