yeah but would it make a difference between looking for a private seller and a dealer? because we all know the dealer prices are more. so which one would insurance go by

I had USAA and my experience was very poor on a 1998 Infiniti QX4 five years ago (so it was six years newer). First, USAA did not care about anything I had done to the vehicle more than six months before the accident - SS rhino guards, bumper protector, nerf bars; bagged; drilled and slotted rotors; etc., etc. They used their book and offered so small a settlement, I had the car towed to my driveway and thought about it for a few days. So, NO, unless you have a collector's style policy and an appraisal, you will not be pleased with their compensation.

BTW, there was a clause with the settlement check stating if I could not buy a replacement vehicle with their check plus my deductible within three months, they would reconsider. It took a lot of effort but 18 months later I got another $3k out of the tight-fisted insurance company.

Sheesh, 3000?? it can't be that low.

Wade Lowell, I don't know which insurance company he has honestly but I feel like its gonna be a long time before I get any money awarded to me.

I feel your pain. Maybe we can scrape some parts together and get you back on the road. When will you have a list?

let me put it to you this way... I went to trade a pristine low mileage 2003 S2000 in at sewell lexus and their initial offer was 8500.00... And it was perfect - never wrecked, 73k miles, babied...

i'd guess I am close. My toyota tacoma is 2004 v6 and 170K miles - blue book says 8500 - YEAH RIGHT - i'd be lucky to get 3000.

I'd buy it back from the ins company for a couple of hundred and part it out or do the parts swap like Bad Boy said

I hope they total it that way I'll get top dollar. Also, I don't think insurance gives you trade in value, but more likely Private party value. Also, I've seen a lot of people get awarded tons of money for old piece of ****** cars and your area that you live in also makes a difference as well.

I'm definitely taking all the parts off this car and hoping to buy the car back. Even if they dont total it, I want to part with this one.
