factory alarm module problem!!!! 99 sc 300
i had installed an avital aftermarket alarm system and it work fine for like a month and then the horn (factory alarm) keeps going off when the car is locked. after taking my car back to the installer over and over for the same problem he said my factory alarm module is bad and i would need a new one and he cant simply disconnect it because the car wouldnt start ( i dont believe him, i just think he's full of it) im about to get my speakers system replace by another installer. my question is can the factory alarm module be disconnected from the BCM without any starting issues?

I believe one of the added features for all the SC's from 1998-2000 were the engine immobilizing chips integrated into the keyfob. So your installer would be correct that without that module, the car will not start.

iirc the factory alarm has to be bypassed and it cant be removed because of the immobilizer. im not familiar with avital, but i have a viper 791xv on one of my 99s and a viper 5901 on the other 99 and both alarms needed bypass modules.

Not to thread jack, but what about the 92-94 SC's. My SC recently started to intermittently lock by itself and I only have the factory alarm and manual key. on a few occasions the car would lock while i'm inside the car then when I start it up the alarm would go off, so I have to go out then unlock the door manually to disarm the alarm so it will start. Is there a way to disable the factory alarm on a 92 SC400?
