Heh, my SC's main problem was the new plug wires were put on in the wrong order. It barely ran well enough to make it onto the trailer for the trip home but it ran fine by the next evening

Anything beats the gold but 16s are really too small for the car. They were considered large wheels back in 1992 but 17s look more like what should have been stock. I'll bet non-SC people think these came on my car:

(stock 2001 LS430 wheels)
It helps handling too, and they're not big enough to make it ride rough. I'm not into sidewalls so thin the brand name says "See Other Side" nor do I want enough camber so my car looks like this /----\ from behind. I have no desire to drive a caricature of a car!

so my first day out in the car filled it up with premium and after my wallet stopped crying I had driven it about 7 miles and stopped for about 45 minutes came back car started and died and started and died finally got it to rev up for a minute than ran perfect for the rest of the day but then came home and let it sit for an hour and again same issue
I used the search function and came to the conclusion its the fp ecu so my question is, is the fp ecu mod safe to do on a sc400? I am going to perform the mod tomorrow afternoon as this is now my daily driver and cannot afford for it to go down on its maiden voyage

The fuel pump ECU is safe and easy once the back seat is out.
You might as well pull the main ECU (under passenger side floor carpet) and check it for bad capacitors too. They frequently fail and I had mine rebuilt just so it would be one less step in future troubleshooting. Buying a used one on ebay just means another chance for the exact same problem.
That rebuild and replacing all the rock hard vac hoses with new ones helped my idle return to semi-normal. I also cleaned the IAC (easy job) and checked & recalibrated the TPS sensor which is relatively easy if you have a DVM and a spare power plug from a computer power supply. Luckily I own a computer shop![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
The how-to for both of those are readily available with a quick google search.

thanks for the info and i will check those things out as well while I am working on the car, heh gives me something to do on my days off until my daughter gets out of school in the afternoon's
btw loving the car so much i do hear alot of suspension noise coming from the front and the back struts feel like they are going so I am just making a list on my board next to the computer of things to tackle next, wouldnt mind finding a set of used front lca's for cheap that I can install new bushings in but in time
