Why no love for the 1UZ?

I was at the same crossroads and if you want a freakishly reliable engine then go with the 1uzfe as long as hp is not a huge concern but if you want fuel mileage and more power that a bolt on 1uzfe then 1jz as that is how it broke down for me.
I am having a hard time selling my whole take out motor and trans for 450.00 with 130k miles.

The majority is all talk. There are only a handful of guys on this entire board that went the FI road with their SC400, and I applaud them. There are supercharger kits, headers, full exhaust, manual tranny swap guides for the UZ. How many people are actually doing it? VERY few. They'd rather complain that there is no readily available TT or single turbo kit for their car. It's because companies know they won't sell so why waste time developing such product? If turbo kits were available, they would cost an arm and a leg and the complaining would continue.
It makes no sense to put $10k+ into my car no matter how fast it would make it. Somehow people with the v8 are just complainers and the big ballers drive 2JZ's, except those "real" modders happen to have easy kits available. You go buy your off-the-shelf parts and then call us complainers because we can't do the same without dropping 3-4 times the cash.
There are just as many people who buy a SC300 and talk all about how fast they're going to make it and it never leaves its naturally-aspirated form. Then there are the ones that screw up the NA-T conversion, or those who start throwing money at JDM engines from a sketchy ebay merchant and end up selling their project as a pile of parts because they ran out of money. How many people start out with a real Supra TT and don't reach the magical 600+ whp mark? I'd wager 90%+ never make it past BPU. I guess they're haters too.

If I find some pre-made motor mounts to put the 1UZ into a MK3 Supra (or find that the SC mounts will do the trick) I'll come buy the combo from you. You're only ~ 6.5 hours from me.

If there's a will there's a way. If there is high demand for a product, companies usually take notice. Clearly, there isn't enough demand for the 1UZ yet.

All the same? As in an easy, reliable platform to make plenty of horsepower and torque?

And yes, v8's generally all end up being the same. Having built countless different versions of all the big name brands. My father, grandfather and uncle have all been in racing for their whole lives... so guess what I got into. Growing up in a race car shop, then subsequently being a mechanic as well as a shop owner for several years gives me a little bit of knowledge. Im not impressed by them and thats my opinion, if you dont like it, too bad. Theres no love for an engine that comes in a car that has little to no mod-ability with out a good deal of fabrication. Sure if you like it and wanna do that you are more than welcome. No one told you not to, but dont call a jz engine a downgrade. Make 350 hp on your engine and tell me what your mpg are... make 600, make 850.
Cost me about 2k to hit the hp level Im at... free labor of course. and my only limits are trans and fuel. all things I can address if I want to. I choose to be happy at this level for the time being.

Meh?
So using that logic I bet the 10 cylinder in the LFA is an even crappier motor.
I have never driven a car with a turbo 2jz or a 1jz, but i have driven a Cosworth Escort in the UK, a first generation STI, and an S4 (the twin turbo charged six cylinder one) so that's my frame of reference.
Maybe it's nostalgia for 60-70's american muscle cars, my first v8 was a dropped and heavily modified 1967 firebird 400. That car was alot of things but never meh..............
There is just something special about these 1uz SC400s. It's a stellar automobile! I love the sound of the toyota v8. Sounds even better without the various exhaust components. The engineering is exceptional.
People are always talking................ 700 hp on stock internals, 1000 hp on stock internals. What for like a month?
If you like numbers so much, how about this.................. 500,000 miles without a rebuild!!!!!
Don't get me wrong I like drag racing, drifting, etc..... but what is it that people like to do with 1000 horsepower on the street that won't end up with you dead or in jail?
It's pretty hard to get traction over 500 rwhp, I don't find it that useful in a street car.
I find it really funny that a thread about why the 1UZ should get more attention, immediately turns into a bunch of electronic ***** measuring, and bashing the underdog. I suspect most people criticizing this motor have underlying feelings of inadequacy!!!! lol..... joking!
Give the 1UZ some f'in respect..........it deserves it.

Trust me I would love to turbo or supercharge my 1UZ But way to spendy But will I ever go through all the trouble to put in a 1jz or 2jz in my V8's spot so I can upgrade it, HELL NO. I LOVE the stock torque it puts out. I don't have time to upgrade my engine so I just keep the best of the best in stock form lol.
