what are you talking about? the vent is on passenger side for turbo thus making it functional the vents even help exchange air in engine bay..
i actually had a question i've never really asked before but always wondered. with the hood having all these vents and such, i understand the aero part and exchanging of hot air like stated above... but what about water? like when you wash or drive in the rain. in my head i just see massive amounts of water dumping all over the engine/sensors/connectors/electronics/battery...ect. my buddy's honda has a hood with all kinda of vents in it and all this comes to mind as sometimes his car doesnt start and has all kinds of problems. first i think honda then i think hood haha.
can someone shine some light on this for me?

A lot of people make "rain guards" for their hoods (think aluminum plates) in places where it rains more often.
Now personally if you are sticking the hose right into the vents when you are washing your car then you deserve any problems that may come from that lol. During car washes, simply sticking some rags in there will be enough to keep the water from soaking everything.

Unless its pouring, the valve cover should evaporate any water on contact.
When washing the car, you have the following options:
1. Put a towel underneath the hood.
2. Put a towel over the vents.
3. just use a microfiber towel to clean the hood.
When driving, like i said, most drops that make it past the mesh (our vented hood come with mesh in the vents) should evaporate when coming in contact with the valve cover.
NOTE: If you live in a heavy rain area, i would suggest not getting a vented hood.
