I know this isn't an SC question but jus wanted to ask what products u use to clean your engine bay. I was jus gonna have a detail place do it for me but someone told me if the engine runs good then leave it alone b/c the chemicals they used to clean your engine could possibly get into your electrical system and mess it up.

I read a FAQ on paint and engine detailing the automotive care and detailing forum. They gave detailed instuctions on how to clean the engine bay and what to clean and what not to clean. they also said what to cover with plastic bags. You may want to check that out. Its pretty helpful.

I use a normal Armor All Tire Shine product... simply spray on a towel and wipe onto the surfaces to clean. Works pretty well and stays clean for a good while too.

I use HIGHLY dilluted Castrol Super Clean (Purple stuff-so dilluted that it looks clear) and a damp rag. I wipe greasy stuff down with the rag, then wipe it with a wet clean rag. After everythings done, a nice mist of Armor all (or similar) and the engine bay looks brand new.
Oddly enough, a spary can of carb cleaner gets those greasy electrical connectiors lookin' new again.
Hope this helps,
Keiht
