Despite the critizisms you are onto something, just need to make a small change. The light strips you got can be cut into groups of 2 or 3, then soldered together in a semi-circle, then stuck to a sheet of plastic cut out to the shape of the lighted area of the cluster. Hot glue those sheets to the peaks of the reflectors and you'll have a lower-tech version of what I did on my cluster!
