Cool Swap newer instrument cluster on '93?

Just wondering what the consequences would be of swapping a newer ('97+) on a '94 SC400.

Um.......

Cathode lighting, the time it takes to do it, and wrong mileage.

Other than that, I did it, and absolutely love it, mainly for the MPG gauge

Why don't you like the cathodes? I don't like em either but I'm curious of what your reason is.

I also love my 98 cluster but wiring it into my 93 was definitely no fun.

Yes, so long as you get the 97+ ODO button (there's an extra we don't have).

Matt:

I'm just kinda worried about when the Cathode goes bad, I heard it's a pain to change.

Is there a DIY for this somewhere? I didn't find it in the main page of the DIY thread. My 92 that I just purchased has a 97 cluster in it, and all my gauges work except for speedo, and my o/d light flashes. I have not had the time to dig into the wiring yet (i just purchased the car yesterday) but i was looking for a DIY or help thread to reference. I'm going to keep searching as well.

That actually sounds like a speed sensor issue.

Not really. I was gonna do a diy when I finished mine but there is so much info, it would take forever to post it. My guess is, that's why no ones ever posted a diy. If I remember right, there's something like 48 wires that have to be cut, then spliced into the new plugs. Its pretty damn hard.
