Post Start-Up problem

We have a 92 SC300, and during the day the car does not start a couple of time when you start it. We checked the battery and it is okay. I have no idea of what this can be. If anyone knows please tell us. THANKS

Check the cable connections for wear...

Also it could simply be the starter itself

Assuming your plugs/leads/cap/coil are all in good order and the engine is cranking when hit the starter then I would suspect the fuel pump ECU or possibly the crank sensor is loose/dirty.

I would go with the fuel pump ecu. We had the same problem, and that was the cause. Hope you get things fixed.

Lightbulb same problem

if your symptoms are:

1. you start the car and in about less than 5 seconds or so, you hear the car start to die....

2. when #1 is in progress, once you think the car is dying, you step on the gas and it's fine...

3. sometimes stepping on the gas doesn't solve the problem

4. it can take up to 5-7 times trying to start the car to finally get it to work...

THEN THE PROBLEM IS YOUR IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR...THIS PART RUNS TO ABOUT ~$900!

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM...

I have never seen a failed Air Idle Valve but the symptoms Sharon lists are similar to the failing pump ECU, I forgot to add you can test for the pump ECU issue by placing a jumper in the diag port to force the system intp 12v mode, see my site for more details.
