Autolamps HID's installed...parking lights look horrible...

I second those questions. $380 is definitely palatable. But if I do decide to purchase from Autolamps, is the "group buy" price still on? I just found that thread last week and I think the deadline was in July. Maybe it's been bumped?

You may want Manary's input on this.
And I think he compared the diff between AutoLamps and Hella too.
Maybe a search will turn up something but if I remember correctly, the end consensus was that you got what you paid for.

Gee legends, where is my brain?! Maybe I got you and Din mixed up.
Oh legends, the parking lights....makes these questions more important then. How many watts are yours?
How well do they match the color of the Autolamps kit? Can you even tell the difference?

If you want to know where I got my kit from PM me. The kit I got is made by Hella, its a 6000k kit with the d2s bulbs 9006 socket type so it fits right in to the headlight.
I will try to get some pics soon so maybe yall can see what theylook like.

mjr24,
The bulbs are just 5W 168 wedge Extreme White
You can get specs here
http://piaa.com/wedgebulbs.html
I think the match the color of the Autolamps 6000k pretty well, I cant vouch for the 4100 thou.
Super whites maybe another option.
Pretty much, the bulb just gets rid of the yellow/amber which I despised.
It's not going to give you much output. If you are expecting that, u'll be disappointed. It's an option for those people who don't like the amber and was just going to remove the parking lights all together but would rather like something there to match the color.
Hope that helps.

Yes it does, I have the 6K so I dont care if it matches the 4100 either lol..
I dont care about the visibility, like you I just want to get rid of the amber.
Where can I buy these PIAA bulbs and how much are they?
Thanks for the info.

Mjr, I have the same PIAA bulbs in my car right now. Please do note that they do not look the same in person as in the above pics. They are drastically dimmer in real life. For instance, here is a picture of my car with the same city bulbs and I can tell you that they don't look like that in person....
There may not be a better alternative other than unplugging the city lights altogether, but I am unhappy with the bulbs right now. Not as unhappy as with the three pairs of Sylvania 168/168LL/194LL bulbs I bought though...

mjr24,
I donno about lex400sc, but i feel like i dont like it because of the output. The color is okay, but the output is DIM.
You know how when u just turn the city light and it's real dim amber?
Well, now it's a real dim white w/ a hint of blue.
It may match ur 6k HID but it doesn't do much.
If there's a better alternative out there, I'll explorer it.
But I bought mine on Ebay and you can use keywords like "Piaa 168".
I dont know about your but everything on lex400sc's car looks better than mine. The HID's, the city lights, the fog lights.

dkny_112,
I didnt do a detailed search but during other threads before, the diff between Hella and Autolamps is apparent and you get what you paid for.
The biggest difference for me is that Philips make the Autolamps and SPW Industries makes Hella.
There's a thread about that here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=49655
In the end, make sure you search the forum well on Hella vs AutoLamps. If you can only put down so much $ then so be it, but in no way should you expect Hella to be of the same thing as the Autolamps HID.

Yeah agreed. Phillips makes Xenons stock for all thecar companies I believe. Im not even sure if Hella makes them stock in any cars. Phillips it a top of the line.

Philips and Hella are both equally top notch companies that both control the OEM market. The difference between the two is that Philips makes bulbs and ballasts, while Hella makes ballasts, projectors, and headlamp assemblies. A common misconception is that Hella also makes HID bulbs, which they do not. As long as you know who makes the bulbs in a Hella kit, you should be okay.
