Default Issue with dashboard lights

So a while back the lights around 3-4k rpms on the tachometer were out, but everything else was fine. I dropped my car off to get a leak fixed, and now the 3-4k rpm section is illuminated but other lights don't work now. Other parts are also dim and the red light on the fuel gauge is out. I noticed that both times this happened, there was some kind of power outage as the number of miles driven had dropped to 0.

Any ideas?

They pulled your battery cable. When backlight is very old and you remove power to it, it has a very hard time re-firing. There is always just enough power in the bulbs to keep the filament active....... until you pull the plug.

Interesting.

Do you know how to fix it?

Anyone know how I fix this? The mechanics are all telling me it's the bulb, but I know this isn't the case.
