The water might have been coming from the spare tire well, when I was going to put my nitrous bottle where the spare is suppse to be, there was a pool of water in the well... I just pulled the black plug, and cleaned it all out, don't know how it got in there, but that might be a spot to check.

That's a drain hose for the sunroof. The black box (one on each side) ventilates the trunk.

Is there a way I can take out/open up that black box to see wuts it in? I have a leak as well, and when it rains the tube doesn't drain into the box, it drains into wher emy jackand tools are. So the whole area FLOODS. All my tools are rusted to hell now.

I don't understand how that tube can come from the sunroof... When no water can get in when the sunroof is closed?

The black box is hollow, with the exterior side having a bunch of openings covered by flexible rubber flaps (see the pic below) . The flaps act as a one-way valve, allowing air in the trunk to escape through the opening in the bottom, but do not allow much air, moisture or debris to enter upwards into the trunk area.

The sunroof drain tubes just pass through a hole in the corner of the black boxes - they do not really effect their operation (or vice-versa). The tubes directly exit out the bottom of the box.

You are right in that a well-fitting, closed sunroof shouldn't allow much water to leak through, but I guess some might under the right conditions, hence the over-engineered drainage system.

So that sunroof tube that goes into the black box.
How long is that? I would ultimately like to remove that piece and then replace it. But I think it would be a hassel.

When the tube goes into the black box, does it just "rest" in there and drain when the sunroof sends water? Or does it actualy fit perfectly in a designated spot in the black box?

The reason I ask that is becauase mine just "rests" there and I think that is what is causein the leak.

Thanks!

I'm not sure how long it is, but it extends from the rear sunroof area, along the roofline, down the C pillar, then into the trunk near the gas filler/antenna and then into a rubber grommet in the corner of black box. The black box covers a rectangular hole in the trunk, and the drain tube passes right through a hole in the black box. You can crawl under the car and snake your hand up into the area.

To get to the entire tube, you'd have to remove the rear seat, to remove the inner c pillar panels, to remove the headliner- no fun. And should not be necessary, unless the tube is clogged. But the black box is easily removed- I'd start with that if you are curious.

The tube might be clogged
I see all this green algea and goo in there I hope not...
But if its clogged, why would it even flood the area? The water would simply not go through... And I would see flooding somewhere else... MMM

So if I remove the black box, I will see a "hole" in my car?
I would be able to see the ground?

You do not need to remove the black box.

Just pull out the drain hose and make sure it isn't clogged or pinched; then re-insert. I even think (not sure) but I think the hose doesn't even go through the box, it should go throught a hole w/ grommet through the body of the car just infront of the black box. Its easy to see.

Puoring a mild bleach solution down the tube will clear out any algae.
