Default diy interior color change

i thought id post my weekend project .... wanted to go with a black interior with out removing any parts from my car. it would of been a big mission to remove my dash so i taped the front window and cluster and a.c. controls. i cleaned everything with soapy water very well, and started laying down layers lil by lil... if you spray to close it leaves light colord spots.. also careful how you spray it leaves dust and if u spray to much it builds so keep that in mind... after i also wrapped my woodgrains with a carbon fiber sticker paper i got at my local autoparts store to complete the job.. this was super easy to do... enjoy!

I'm interested in your seats. Did you have them redone or did you do them yourself?

Edit: Also is that an old picture or did you swap it to manual and change the steering wheel as well?

Looks good so far. Did you use the SEM paint on the plastics and the seats?

the cans i used was duplicolor flat black (dont get the gloss) they were aboout 8 bucks a can.... i had to use around 5 cans i layed down alot of layers.....the seats were redone with suede in the middle.. i got the car with the carpet and seats already done... and the shift **** this is what i did... when u remove the stock shifter u got a white stick and a black plastick i trimmed the black plastick a lil so all that pokes out is the white stick.. that white stick when u push it down it lets you shift so i put a regular shift **** on it... so all u do is press down on the shift **** to shift... ill try and post a diy on the shifter soon... real easy... also yes added the steering wheel but im looking for an rx330 or a more modern one...

Blak, from what I've read about that shifter mod you tend to lose the O/D button.

Question is, how often do you really engage it? Or disengage it?

you can no longer use overdrive when you do that to the shifter.

.here is diy that i copied for my car (the link for the diy is in the youtube video description) works like a charm! got my shifter from ebay. its made for auto shifters, but can be used as a manual shifter also.

HERE.

I originally used the Duplicolor originally and it totally didnt hold up. I had to resand and remove most of the paint and redo with SEM. I hope yours holds up better than what mine did. From the picture it looks very well. I cant believe you didnt remove any of your stuff before painting. :-)

dude its solid i even scratch it on purpose with my finger nail to test and its on there real good.. but from what i read its the preping that makes it bond well ... u gotta scrub that **** hard to remove any grease or armor all on it... i wish you guys can see it in person... dosnt even look like paint... i do graffiti as a hobby so im pretty handy with the spraycan the only thing i had to take out were the seats... to get the center piece

You didn't remove anything?!?! That's awesome. I've heard of people doing the dash this way because it's a real pain to uninstall....but the whole interior!
