Default SC 300 -- seeking advice: interior repair

I own a '93 SC 300, 5 speed. It's in excellent shape. My mechanic who works only on Lexus and Toyota vehicles says it will last me many many more years. (less than 150k miles). The tan leather interior is starting to show it's age of 20 years, but nothing more than one would expect: tear in driver's seat, seams pulling apart at top of rear seats, cracked driver side door panel where I rest my left knee while driving. (photos attached, I think.)

Quote for reupholstering was $3,500 just for the leather. Interior door panel, $1,000. More than I can spend.

I LOVE my car, but I'm not much of a car guy.So I'm looking for advice. On Ebay I found full seats recovered from wrecked SC 300 that had been recovered. Price $1,200.(The two-tone leather is not like mine and I assume a custom job.) Here's link:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/92-93-94-95-...sories&vxp=mtr

But I don't need the seats, just the leather. I've also found new leather seat covers, which I assume can replace the old leather in my car, if I can find someone to do it. $425. Here's a link:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-SC300-...sories&vxp=mtr

My question is this: does it make sense to spend $1,200 for actual Lexis seats when all I need is the leather recovered? If not, do these covers adequately replace the original leather if you can find someone to do the work? Or should I leave my car as is because its in decent shape and still all original?

Thanks

Well ultimately whats your plans for the car? What do you want to do with it?

for the door panel I suggest buying a used one off of here, way cheaper especially since tan stuff goes for dirt cheap since its mostly not wanted.

Call the local junk yards and do a search on craigslist. They are tons of tan interiors out there.. Just keep searching. For the leather, buy from www.leatherseats.com.. Very good leather and ease of install. Get the car looking and feeling new again.. JMO..

Welcome to the club..

Thanks for the reply. I want to keep my car until it blows away in the wind like dandelion spores. I'd like to keep it up and keep it original, or at least looking original. If money were not an issue, I'd pay the 5k for complete restoration of the interior. But it is. So I'm weighing my options.
