Sc making a terribe noise
My car just strted making a very loud screeching sound. The sound is coming, or at least appears to be, from the rght front side of the car (from the tire?) It occurs anytime the gas is pressed, and occurs from 1MPH all the way up; however once you get to like 40mph the rad noise drowns it out. If i turn the steering wheel it will also get louder. The odd thing is that if the brake is pressed whatsoever the noise stops.
The closest thing I can think of to the sound is someone hoding a chain or a bunch of change in their hand and jingling it around.
The car is a 95 sc300 with 120k
Please help me
Thanks

Sounds exactly like my car.
It's the power steering pump. I'm getting mine replaced. $160 from http://www.global4autoparts.com

Well the noise only occurs when I accel or the car is rolling (and the noise occurs all the time..it isnt periodical). If i press that brake the slightest bit the noise doesnt occur.
would that still be the brake pads?

My 1st guess would be that your front brake pads are down to the wear indicators. Better check them or you could end up with rotor damage.
My second guess would be you may have a rock wedged in between the caliper & the rotor. Happened to me once on the highway in the middle of nowhere. Sounded like my rotor was getting ground apart. I checked, but there was no scoring, and after about 50 miles, the rock wore down and feel out. Sounded terrible though.

tommym,
If it stops when you touch the brake pedal...then it is DEFINITELY the brakes.
Several pieces in the brake caliper/pad design could be lose. This causes the noise as the piece is rubbing on the rotor. When the brakes clamp down...the noise stops because the pressure shoves the part down.
My suggestion is to overhaul the brakes and check the INSIDE pad on the engine side of the rotor. My guess is that you lost a clip or the pad is worn heavily.
Power steering pump you can pinpoint by popping the hood.
Serpentine belt...same story... easy to figure out because the noise would be constant from the same spot.

Yah, pumps and belts will make noise when the car is running, even if it's not moving or braking.
But if the noise is only when the car moves, and goes away when you brake, then the brakes themselves are probably the culprit. When you brake, it tightens the assembly, which may stop noise caused by wear indicators or other worn parts.
I'd certainly think "brakes" first for this kind of noise.
