SC400 V8 Cost???
Hey guys, i got a question on waters I might be testing. Well, my plans were to boost my sc400, of course convert to manual and so forth. But im leaning more to a 1jz swap being It easier getting boost and less complications a manual swap. My question is, my sc v8 is still in great condition as so is the transmission. How much would I be able to sell my motor and tranny for? This is just something I'm thinking about so any advice would be greatful. Thanks guys!

If your 1UZ is in great shape, you might want to slow down on doing any kind of swap.
1. the cost of swapping from auto to manual is going to be roughly the same between either motorset. However, the SC400 came equipped with the A341E automatic transmission which is the same tranny that came in the Supra TT. The only mod that needs to be made on the auto tranny is beefing up the valve body (from what I've been told).
2. while swapping out the 1UZ for the 1JZ might appear alluring, EVERYONE seems to be doing a 1JZ or 2JZ swap. It is really beginning to seem like the SR20 swap that everyone and their brother has done already. Additionally, swapping motors will not be a dollar for dollar proposition and I would venture to guess that you will probably be spending about 50% more than whatever you get for your 1UZ.
3. since you seem to already have a healthy 1UZ, troubleshooting performance upgrades should be very minimal as you won't have to be resolving issues during/after a swap.
4. and most importantly, why are you wanting to do the swap? the 1UZ would be good to make 400whp under mild boost.

very true Gambler. ive looked over the situation and have found the solution to my 5spd swap. as for the motor i think ill stay with the v8 and gain more knowledge for power on this particular motor. but you do make alot of sense. i was just leaning more to the swap because i had a connection on a motor but i dont feel like jumping on a bandwagon. i can agree with your thinking because i was also far away from doing an RB or SR swap on my S14 being i knew my KA had potential witch i dont ever regret doing. im going to stay with my same way of thinking on this sc400 as well. plus it would be nice to have one more unique SC400 on the road too.
