is it one of those omni power map sensors you see on ebay?

you definitely need to find either a stock 1jz or 2jz map sensor, the 4bar will not scale correctly with the factory ecu. However i dont think it would keep it from starting and atleast idling

are you using the stockinjectors? and are you sure the fuel is actually getting into the cylinder?

also pull a coil and plug and ground it to something on the engine and have someone crank the car, you should see the plug firing

It definately doesn't run when its disconnected, you may get it to fire up briefly with no map installed.
I know with the 3 bar or a 3.5 bar map sensor it would start up and very quickly fall on its face and stall out.
car starts and runs just fine with a 2jz map sensor though.
