Default Update: 1992 SC400 NEW pictures!

This is what I have done so far to the Lexus SC400 I bought a couple months ago.
Brand new $600 Italian leather seats Re-Upholstered by "Jarimillo Upholstery"
Front brake calipers painted red
New climate control LCD unit (cost me $180)
Brand new Air conditioner compressor (was R12, but I converted it to R-134)
I would have got it new interior door panels but their $400 each on eBay!
Take a look...she's a beauty!

Adjust the climate control unit so it doesn't look like someone attempted to steal it. Replace the tan plastic seat rails since they are pretty banged up. Get a set of OEM mats, paint the rotors back to silver, and paint the "L" Lexus center caps back to a nice silver. How many miles are on the car?

The seats look really nice, clean up the rest of the interior to match. Peel off that faux woodgrain overlay crap on the climate control and clean up the glue it leaves behind. Toss that steering wheel cover thing as well. If you need a better condition tan steering wheel, I bet they go for $25 bucks or less.

Best of luck.

That is a used, "new" climate control LCD unit. The guy that owned it before, got a custom cd player, and took out & lost the OEM mounts for original radio/tape. so that's why it looks like somebody tried to steal it.
The seat rails are very expensive, but I'll try to find them. The mats I have are "fair", and one of them, has a permanent stain, (I spilled leather cleaner on it) Probably will get rid of that garbage. I will paint the Lexus caps silver, I think the dog "used" them...
There is just over 149xxx miles on the car.
Peel off the faux wood grain overlay crap? but I like the faux wood-grain overlay crap! does it seriously look that bad?
The steering wheel is pretty beat up, will look into new wheel.
Thanks for your help, it helps a lot!

Get window tint, it wii make the car look better and will save the interior from fading in the New Mexico sun.

Yeah that faux wood grain looks bad. New wheel would be good but wont kill a sale. I don't think he meant the rails but the plastic covers on the side of the seat. they look dirty compared to those nice seats.

The more you add, the more you will ask for money in return. Leave it how it is and try to sell it. IMO not a popular color, it won't sell for very high

Whoever did the upholstery managed to f-up those plastic trim covers pretty good. Look at where the recline handle is... they actually broke it in order to get to the 14/15mm bolt. That bolt is a pain in the *** but there was no need to be a monkey about it...

I take it you are trying to flip the car for profit? Elbow grease is your friend at this point. You can do a lot with fine sandpaper and rubbing/polish compounds, but I suggest you get some practice on some other plastic household items around the house before you start diving into the interior of the car.

Good luck with this. Hopefully you're not in the hole for too much cash.

Get rid of the faux wood, it doesn't match the real wood in the car and looks tacky.

If your rear antenna is working (it's not all the way down), try using WD40 on it, run it up and down, wiping away the debris, and it should clean up enough so that it's not sticking.

I tell you what cleans up interior pieces really good....carb cleaner lol. Seriously, I sprayed it on a rag and carefully wiped down some serious scuff marks that never came off when using normal cleaners and it worked great. Just be very careful with it.

(My antenna doesn't work.
just a question, the trunk button does not work inside. How would I go about fixing it?
I think it's now obvious the owner before me treated it like happycrap.

Magic Eraser's work extremely well if you dont want to use carb cleaner! The car needs to look as stock and as clean as possible if you want the most money out of it, no silly or cheap modifcations. From the pictures the body looks to be in really good shape though!

If you were buying this car what would be the "biggest" thing that would bother you? (besides mechanical at this point)
