Default Car getting a respray tomorrow :)

So after being depressed this year because the clear was flaking off I didn’t even drive my car for 5 months. Well after deciding to bite the bullet I am getting a respray (PPG paint). I am keeping it the same color as it has grown on me. Wish I had some 97 sides but the guy quoted 100 to do those when I get them. This week cant end soon enough!!!

Detailing is a hobby of mine ever since high school, and a few things that I've proven to cause clear coat failure is;
1) wiping off the morning dew off of the car in the morning
2) not regularly waxing the car (waxing is every 4-6 months, sealant is every 6 months-1 year)

Maybe next year I'll get a respray too. I need some dings pulled first. Are you getting any light body work done as well? Make sure to post pics when it's all said and done.

Why does wiping off the dew in the morning hurt? Like small amounts of dew, not "looking like the car was just rained on" dew. That's interesting.

Also meangreen1, how much for the respray? Just curious.

Yep, cant wait. The price is 1400 with only a few door dings. All in all a good deal if everything works out good

Its science. Lol

But for real though, what happens is, the morning dew comes from the metal body. As it comes out the paint, it lifts the paint up a few microns off of each layer. So once you wipe it off, slowly but surely, small particles of the top coat/paint come off.

im fed up with my cars original paint and all my dings , dents, scratches and flaking so im going to paint my car myself this week .

Im going to take a bit of a chance and do a matte finish in my original sandstone beige , say what u want but its only gonna cost me about $100.00 altogether, cant beat that.
