Huh?

The lock/unlock mechanism under the dash -- push on the lock to lock it. To unlock, use the master key to unlock it. The master key is the same key that will open your trunk (provided nobody has changed the lock cylinder on your trunk).

When you push the lock/unlock mechanism on the dash, it will NOT lock the trunk from you using a key or the remote. It locks ONLY the lock/unlock mechanism. Therefore, if you have a valet driver park your car, s/he won't be able to open your trunk and look in it. Just make sure you don't leave your car with the master key.

How confusing. But mjr24's key may indeed be going all the way in. The shaft of my key is 4.5 cm, but when you put it in the trunk or door, 1.2 cm remains outside the keyhole. Not exactly half of the key, admittedly, but still quite a bit (26%).

Im gonna measure my key and see how much is sticking out tomorrow lol.
I have a switch under my dash that releases the trunk lid. I do not think that switch locks the trunk.
Is that correct so far? I dont want to write a ton and confuse everyone.

Also, if I buy a used lock cylinder from somewhere, can I assume my key wont open it is what you are saying?
