Default NA-T on stock sc300

Is the sc300 motor strong enough to run low boost (8lbs) without killing the motor?

I have a 93 SC300. The needles went out and the radiator cap went bad........ So you know what that means. BLOWN HEAD GASKET!!!! So I bought a replacement motor, and in the process of installing it, but the blown motor I plan on getting rebuilt for a turbo setup. Im just a little antsy. I need boost!!!!

So will a turbo kill a stock motor with 150k ?

Thanks

To answer your question, YES the stock motor strong enough to run 8lbs without killing the motor. To be honest, that's nothing! Plenty members here are running more then 8lbs with more miles on a stock block. A good EMS-great investment. I would also change out the Injectors too! You know once you're boosting, there's always that "I want MORE" factor. If you already have your replacement motor, thoroughly check out the engine you picked up. Compression test it, make sure the cylinders aren't damage, etc. next I would go ahead change a few things first before the install. I.E. oil pump, water pump, new seals, a new head gasket just to start. It's much easy with the engine out of the car. I would advise you, take your time and do it right the first time...our cars are already a money pit. lol...it could be an even bigger money pit, if you don't know what you're doing! Search NA-T and see what worked for other members. You could probably check out Halon's build, I think he's still running a stock engine? Remember, TUNING (proper tuning) is what makes all the difference! Good luck!

Keep us posted.

Steve

Your perfectly fine to boost a 2j at 150k+ there is people who are and have boosted these engines with close to double those miles.
A properly taken care of 2j is still solid at 150k, At the most you could do a headjob to have everything running extra tight.

Like lilSCsteve said, alot of it is tuning! make sure you have all the proper tools to tune and monitor what your engine is doing. Replace all the litle stuff as suggested.

And next time, just look around a bit. This answer is stated over and over throughout the net.

Yes he might be fine, do a leak down test and compression text .

it's a good idea to tighten up the top and the bottom end is loose, again that's why i would do a leak down test .

mine is at 173k with 9k miles over 6XXwhp, my 02 GS300 is at 253k lol , people complain about the weak vvt-i rods even in the stock form but mine still runs .

So it's all about how you take care of it.

I didn't realize you had THAT many miles on your SC? That's impressive!

I hope to have 8psi pushing my engine someday. And so you know, there are many built Supras that use the NA block.

15 on a stock motor?

On the real I want to but one of those Ebay kits that comes with everything, and running low boost for a little more power until the motor I want to build is complete.

But 15 lbs wouldn't be too much?

I wouldn't run 15 psi ON 91/93 octane on 10.1 CR, it's asking for trouble and specially not on the stock ECU.

If you wanna run 15 psi , To be safe i mean safe you need an standalone or , a good piggyback +E85 or C16.

It's all in the Tune, the gas and EMS you choose.

I think i am the first one do to do this , atleast that i know of ! running the bone stock na with E85 with 700whp without cams @24 psi . I am going to run 30 psi on this setup.

Again it's all about the right setup, right combination of parts and everything else.

You wanna ebay Turbo kit , get ebay kits and gl with the project!

There are alot of threads on this subject, same exact little as yours with a little search you will find more than what you need!

Im running 15 lbs on stock internals, only thing i swapped was for a TT head gasket and AEM EMS v2 and coilpacks. But like everyone else said, good ems is key.
