It depends which is cleaner and has better gas mileage. Normally I would pick the 98, but I have no idea how the 93 is.

98 is cleaner and probably gets better mpg than my 1jz

I would trade. I clean 98 isn't easy to find and has all the upgrades. Start a fresh new project.
