FYI, 99% of all steering wheels looked like that in the 90's and early 2000's until the three spoke became more popular. So saying because the steering wheel is similar, the car is similar is no valid argument at all. I had a 01 ES300 before... that steering wheel is identical to the Solaras. So is the 97-02 Camry and first generation Sienna. Same wheel. The Sienna must be the same car as the Solara because it shares the exact same wheel based on your argument.

No... Pfff... I've come to the conclusion that alot of you guys just love to bash on people.
He's right, they do look similar, and I've thought it before. Not "identical" but similar-enough.
This is a Solara interior, look at the wood grain along the door ... Same style, just a lil' thinner; in fact the placement of the wood grain is definitely the same. It's a simple stipe, running across the dash & doors.
Even the steering wheel's the same shape.
Secondly, they're both "long" cars/coupes, and they both have that strike-thru design along the outside.
Again, they aren't "identical" but they are similar; he's right.

The rear window has a different c-pillar kink to it. The only realistic comparison you can make is that they are both coupes. A piece of wood stretching the entire length of the dash?........okay man you got me there man.

I wasn't basing my argument on just on thing, such as a steering wheel.
Theres the strike-thru along the side, the steering wheel, the woodgrain stripes, the chrome trim around the windows, and the fact that the back window goes into a point in the rear (not curved like the Supra's), etc. Theres more to it.

Haha this has to be the best thread I've read yet! I can see where some people would ask. When that car came out I was in high school and it was around the time my parents were saying hell no to my dream of an SC and I had realized my ES was not worth much time. Maybe they introduced it for kids like me! It sparked my interest briefly for the same reason years ago! There's some good sports in here and some people with pride issues! Overall, good times!

This car always has been, and always will be a bootleg Lexus SC/Poor man's SC. It's ont dead on but you can tell where the inspiration came from. Hell, even the newer models are bootleg SC430s.
for being a "Camry Solara" the only ones that have looked like the CAMRY is the straight up 2door CAMRY.
