Newbie sc300
Hey I've been looking at some sc300 around my area. There is 99 sc300 with 190000 miles. Clean car fax no accidents. Color is white also no check engine lights. Car have been maintenance. Is the car worth 4500? Btw it's from the dealership..

What are your intensions for the car??
I have 155k on my stock motor thats boosted 15lbs all day...never have had a problem..
These motors are strong, I personally wouldnt let the mileage bother you... Just depends on what your intentions for the car are. If you plan to turbo in the near future, when that time comes you may want to do a small refresher.. i.e. head gasket, plugs, gaskets etc.

First off welcome to CL. Check out the "stickies", there's a lot of DIY already there. If you're thinking it, chances are-it's already been done. Save yourself the headache, use the SEARCH option. Now moving onto the car.
It's definitely worth it $4500 IMO, but it's nothing wrong with seeing if you can get it a little cheaper. What's the worse they can say-No? 190k, not bad. Believe it or not, those engines are pretty stout...don't let the mileage scare you, especially if it's been maintained. Right now, I'm at 275k on my SC. lol Either way, good luck and keep us informed.
Are you in Louisiana?

Are you worried about the engine being bad due to high milage? heres a quick way to test if the engine will have some leakage problems, bring a vacuum gauge and hook it to a line off the intake manifold. If it holds steady between 18-21 inches mercury, the engine is not leaking. if the needle is bouncing it means one of two things. There is cylinder leakage( could be any leak head valves rings ect) or the engine has been modified with high lift cams. This is a quick and sneaky test you could due. If its bouncing make them drop the price down, if its steady your good.

If you are already planning to boost it, then the miles, wouldnt be a concern. Just change all the seals, gaskets, and so on. JMO..
What are you waiting for?????
Any pictures???

I would totally buy it, those are the one of the most recent 1st gen SC's. It may have a lot of miles (mine has about that much, but its a '95), but my friends tell me that these engines last till 300k. If you ask me it all comes down to how smooth the car is, it could be a car with a whole lot of miles but if it was babied then it would run perfectly fine
