99 SC300 Gated shift in a 92 SC400 possible?
I bought and paid for a gated shifter assembly but have the choice between a 99 SC300 and a 99 SC400 gated assembly, both being in mint condition...
Will both of them work with my car? I ask this because, I have a 4 speed auto with overdrive in my 1992 SC400, so what id LIKE to do is use the SC300 shifter which has L, 2, and then 3 and D (use the "3" as overdrive off and "D" as Overdrive on.... does this make sense?
The alternative is to use the SC400 shift, which has "L" and "2" at the bottom, and then "3" and then 4 and D on the same slot, but alot of people have "4" as overdrive, what does "D" get used for? Id rather just have the shift where I'd be using all of the functions available.
Is it possible to use a 99 SC300 shift in a 92 SC400 given the wiring and link shaft modification?

I would use the SC300 gated shifter since it is for a 4-speed auto....same as the SC400 4-speed auto.. The D position will shift through all 4 speeds. Moving the gated shifter to the left out of the D position will turn the OD off leaving you with just 3 gears. Hope this helps.

I have a shift from what I think is an SC300 on the way, (the vendor cant remember as he packed it long ago and the pic he sent obscured the D-3 (or D-4) slot... he thinks its an SC300 anyway.
If not I'll just return it and get the SC300.
I'll print off all the wiring charts off here and give it to my electronics/mobile audio guy down the street, he'll probably be able to rig it up in 2 hours, provided I dont have to cut my link shaft (which i probably will)
