Default Winged to wingless. 3rd brake light help.

Hey guys, i just recently decided to ditch the wing on my 1998 SC3. So i went ahead and bought the subwoofer cover/3rd brake light, popped in fresh bulbs, plugged it in, and nothing. So my question is, what all do i have to do to make that sucker work? I am gonna go check the kickpanel fusebox here in a little while to see if there's a fuse for it, but its raining pretty hard, and you know how awkward it is to be under there. Thanks in advance.

there is a wire that runs specifically to that light. it might be on the loom that went to the spoiler. i had an extra on mine when i took the wing off. plug that in and see if it lights up.

Well, there was a spare plug sitting there next to the subwoofer that i assumed went to the 3rd brake light. It plugged in perfectly so i figured that was the one for it. Time to check the fuse panel.

I recently took my wing off too and just said eff it to the whole 3rd brake light thing. Are you legally supposed to have one or does it really matter?

Plus now I don't have to prop the trunk up with a broom stick anymore.

I was told that you only needed two brake lights. My third brake light has been out for two ears and it's never been an issue.

My understanding, for my state at least, is if it came with one then you have to have it.

Wouldn't this be considered illegal? I'm not a lawyer or anything but I remember my friend doing this and getting in trouble.

Illegal? I believe you are referring to the requirement of having a third brake light. The answer is yes, you must have a third brake light. I'm sure the OP will figure it out sooner or later. It's not that big of deal, think about how many cars you see on the road every day with a bulb out.
