I have a 500 plus rwhp 1JZ and I must say I love it. It is hard to stay out of it. Dont doubt the any JZ motor. I say go with whatever your budget allows. Remember upgrade the suspension and have good tires or youll be sorry. I am running Michelins and love them. Good luck in your choice..

I really appreciate all your comments and i know that i will get a lot of good info, and that is the reason for the thread.
Unlike most of you, I dont have to worry about the emission, so let's take it out of the equation.
I am willing to spend the money i need to spend. It doesn't mean i will spend unwisely.
I might change my mind few times before i get to the decision.
One idea is to find a 1jz with r154 and put the engine on the 99 and use the t154 for the 92 which will be the na-t and then maybe i try to get to around 700 hp with it.
As i said i am new to all this so i still have a lot to learn.
I see everybody says to go 1jz if you wanna save some money. I am wondering if that is so because a lot has to be done for the 2j swap vs 1j or is it just the difference in the price of the engines and tranny?

If your confident that your engines are in good condition and obviously your willing to drop some major coin i would resarch doing an na-t. While im not pushing this as the better option im just saying look into it.

I am more worried about how he's gonna pass Emission test in MD lol, it's no joke specially if you have an obd2 car.
1Jz is out of question if we wants to pass emissions in MD, 2jzge vvti na-t is not will cost him an arm and leg..
2jzgte will be the best bet but you have to convert to USDM setup , US maf, cams etc..
If the obd2 port can't communicate with their system , You will not pass.

But what Omar said made me look more into and depending on what he says i feel it might be even cheaper if my goal is around 450/500
I heard on the 2jzgte with the stock turbos and bigger injectors and meth it is very doable, cheaper and more reliable plus it solves the problem that Quicksc stated.
Now, is that true? and where you ( Omar) saying the 2jzgte is my best choice for the emission in MD only or is it also less costly and easier to do?
any body? any ideas?
