Default Wiring 95 foglights onto 92 Sc400

Here's a wild one for you. Owned 92 SC400 for 17 years. Had hood repaired over a decade ago and when it came back I discovered the "cornering lights" didn't work. I tried to replace the bulbs and saw something different under there. I am currently doing a restoration and revisited the issue. It turns out they must have also replaced the front bumper because I have actual "fog lights" 94-95 style where my cornering lights were. Cornering bulb is just hanging there and I have actual fog lights of 94-95 vintage in my front bumper connector just hanging there also. Question is can I wire my 92 to accomodate the 95 fog lights? Do I need any other additions to make this happen. Otherwise I need to get another bumper to go back to cornering lights.

Default fogs

if u have a 92 i belive the 95-6 fog lights the bulb connector basicly what plugs in and turns n2 the fog light is differnt not by much but a bit differnt . IF IT IS, ull need the correct plastich bulb holder that u put into the 95-96 and basicly cut the 92-94 off take the power and ground wire and splice them, get s metal sleeve, insert each end of wire into sleeve, solder them or cremp but a cremp and solder b best ohhhh aslo b4 u do that shrink wrap, and that way once u have connection u can shrink wrap so no watter gets n or they dnt short once u have done that u now should have 95-6 fog lights on ur sc 92. how ever i knw in 97 the fog lights r what they r fog lights. on 92-92 the fog lights r turn signals, so so if u r gona wire up oem then thats what ull have on a 92, ull have to find another souce or run a switch to turn them on as fog lights, or else they wilol only work the way the 92 fog lights were disigned to function, anyway good luck hope that helps, ORRRR U CAN just go do a hid kit but will require a little more wiring

Default Thanks for the help

Yes I guess I'm making this more complicated then I need to. Should be able to splice the wires like you said and the shrink wrap is a good idea to waterproof etc.. I actually wanted to put on the 95 fog lamps but knew they wouldn't fit on the 92 bumper so it may be a blessing in disguise to have the brighter "cornering" lamps to match my new brighter headlights. I'll let you know how it goes when the weather breaks here.

Well you already have the 95-96 style bumper with the correct housings. Now you just need the wiring to accommodate the actual lighting system. Cornering light wiring in 92-94 cars doesn't supply enough power or in the correct way you need for fog lights.

What you will need is to build yourself a fog light relay harness. O.L.T. posted an excellent guide on how to do this with our specific wiring colors mentioned. Almost all foglight relay harness designs are fundamentally the same and can be built with common parts and wire from Radio Shack. Follow his guide to take out the guesswork.

That's here:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...og-lights.html

Then there are three ways you can have them activate: 1) allow them to permanently trigger on when another light is switched on (I.E. foglights always come on with parking lights or main headlights activated and no interior switch) 2) You can go to the insane and ill-advised task of swapping in the wiring and steering column from a 95+ SC with the foglight switch on the stalk..... or 3) You can make your own switch by setting your relay trigger signal to the parking lights and running on/off switch wiring into the cabin.

That last one is here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ngine-bay.html

I read that DIY and as you mentioned I already have the newer lights up front so some of the work has been done already to turn them into fog lights. I'll add that to my build list. Thanks again for all the invaluable help.
