Default Part Number Needed for TRAC Switch

Having a hard time getting the right switch I need for the gated shifter assembly. I ordered what I thought was it according to Sewell page but it's not. If anyone could get me part number that would be great. Pics below are switch I need, location on shifter assembly, and the switch they sent me.

Thanks,

Shane

Did you give them the right year? Gated shifter was on '98 and you have a '97 Sc.

Do you have an account/registered with Sewell? If yes that's probably the problem, with getting the wrong part number. They have your VIN # and matched it with your '97. I would contact Sewell and explain that you converted to the '98 gated shifter and need the tracking switch for the '98 version.

Yes I have account registered. I have actually ordered numerous parts for 98-2000 cars on it though without any problems. What kind of ticks me off is that I left three messages with online ordering and never got a call back. I also emailed Darrell at Sewell now twice with pics and part numbers. I finally got to talk with him yesterday and explained the whole situation and told him I was sending pics of what I needed. He said I would get a response in an hour. So far, I haven't got anything. I can't believe trying to get this freaking switch is so difficult. What really ticks me off is I've spent about 2,000 with Sewell buying parts for my car since January and I'm not getting any help. If you try to talk to the parts guys themselves they won't help and refer you to Darrell.

I understand your frustration, for such a minor part. Next time I would check the Sc300/400 classified forum, especially for small used parts. This vendor probably has this part at a cheaper rate. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...0-partout.html

Teal,

These switches aren't very expensive and I'd prefer new. I just can't believe it's that difficult to get a part number.

Well look at the agony you are going through at this juncture, whereas going through the vendor you have the exact part you requested and be done with the problem.

I don't know why people are telling me a dealer when that's who I'm talking to. I'm going to call another dealer and see if I can get it that way. I used to buy a lot of stuff from Carson Toyota so I may try them.

Woops, I didn't realize all these phone calls and emails were with a dealer. Report them to Lexus if they sufficiently chafed your ash

SCary400,

That's the part number to the switch I got. You would think from the diagram on Sewell site that that part number would be it but it's not.

Shane, that's the problem, Sewell is giving the correct part number/Trac switch for your '97 Sc, but you need to explain to Sewell that you converted to a gated shifter and need the '98 Trac switch. Unless I'm missing something different between the two switches.

Teal,

This is the diagram for a 99 SC300 on there site. Part number that comes up is 84988-24040-C0.
You can look up every diagram from 98-2000 and it shows the same switch. It's not the right one.
