So the car is a 96 and you want to put in a 97 dash, or you have a 97 and you bought a 96 airbag...?

I have a 97 dash but its missing a passenger airbag. I was wondering if i can put a 96 airbag in it, found one for $50 looks almost the same. I know the older ones have the wood trim on it. But if its removable it looks like it will fit. Anybody done it before?

The 97+dash must have 97+ trim and passenger airbag. Pre 97 doesn't work at all with it. I just converted my 95 dash to 97+, and the wood trim and airbag from the 95 wouldn't fit at all. The vents fit though, but with some modification.

I actually haven't received it yet. Hurricane Sandy messed up shipping here in the NE, so it will be here tomorrow. I will see if I can wire it in, and get back to you tomorrow.

Well I got my airbag, and the actual airbag won't fit unless you cut a metal tab in the dash, and the connectors are different. You will need to splice the wires to make that work, and somehow create a new metal tab so when the airbag is deployed it won't fly all out. I will work on it sometime soon and get you guys pics.

Swap over the 97 dash bar. I need to splice mine but I couldn't find a wire diagram.
