Default Help Sc300 Help 2nite

well i want to start of by saying, i am a new member. my name is ryan, and i am a student at uc berkeley, orginially from los angeles. i have been into the import racing scene for a while, have owned/built a few turbo cars, and i also own a suzuki gsxr 750.

i want to buy an SC300, and i have 2 choices, but i am unable to decide, so i need your help

1)92 sc300, pearl white, grey leather interior, gold package, fully loaded, NO cd player, original owner, AUTO, 75K

2)92sc300, dark green, tan interior (I HAVE HAD TAN INTERIOR CARS AND I DONT LIKE THEM, SO ITS A BIG NEGATIVE), but the car is 5 speed, ,with a new clutch, i know this car is rare, and ih ave never owned an auto, i am much more comfortable with a 5 speed.

both of these cars, no accidents, have been serviced at lexus dealers..and both are asking 9500

what you guys think?

i test drove a 95 red sc300 with black leather, this weekend, and was amazingly impressed with the auto and its smoothness..

will i regret getting the 5 speed? (the marin lexus dealer said the shifts are long, and the car is not worth as much)

I NEED opinions tonight, please, as i am buying tomorrow

for some reason, the majority on this board would love to get their hands on a 5-speed SC3. The aftermarket support for the SC4 is basically non-existent.

with the SC3 5speed, you'll be able to have loads of fun, since you were into turbo cars, you might have an itching to turbo your SC3 also.... and if you do that, what better way to enjoy it than with a 5 speed? if you want an automatic, i'd suggest the SC4.

oh, welcome to CL! the more you log on, the MOD bug will get you! hehe

get the 5 speed

you can always get a short shift kit. Im not sure of the maker but if it comes down to it a custom one can be made. The 5 speed is much easier to convert to 6 speed if you plan on a turbo. All in all its just more fun to drive i think though.

IF its performance options you are looking for then the 5 speed fits right too. It bolts right up to the GTE engine and it can hold about 450hp...?? anyone correct me if im wrong.

Its your choice but those are some plus's to getting the 5 speed. Do some searches on what you are looking for. I know some of the AUTO guys are regreting not buying a 5 speed.

Default get the 5-speed

I have a 93 5-speed and dig the ride, eventhough my master in the clutch is leaking:eek: I had an auto legend type II motor and all but was used to stick and was thus missing the stick a lot. Traded in the auto legend for the stick sc300 and am very, very happy. If you like the stick you will regret later. Good luck.

actualy thank you everybody for your input..

i actually work at an acura dealership, and looked at legends, but wanted a RWD for the first time

well i just talked to the 5speed green one, and the lady says, the front driver seat is in pretty bad shape..and the bumper has scuff marks....and she will NOT go down a penny under the 9500

so i think, i will end up getting an AUTO for the first time..for 9500

thanks everybody, this board is my new home, as i will be purchasing the pearl automatic tomorrow at 1:30

so if you see a lexus in northern cali or southern cali or even seattle (i drive a lot), towing my yellow and black suzuki gsxr 750..say hi

sadly neither of these cars have hte cd changer

hehe..jk about hte towing

A White SC300 will have a TAN interior.

I would double check that.... I have never seen a White with Gray. The Green should have GRAY.

Remember to check everything when buying. If there is something wrong use it as leverage to lower the price. Do a search on what to look for in buying a SC.

Real quickly...

Make sure the AC works. Our AC is expensive to work with. My SC4 is in the shop getting a $1500 repair.

Dash lights should be bright and not flickering.

look for cracks in the center of the door at the base of the windows as well as a crack near the front speakers.

Look for AC backlight screen failure.

Look for a weird blemish or foggy indoor rear view mirror.

BTW I was at the Big Game. It had been eight years since I went to one that CAL won. This time I did not storm the field though.

Congrats on your purchase.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I am in the Bay area as well.

ryan, get the 5 spd man. you will for sure love it. I just did a swap with the 6spd and the 6spd rear end w/ lsd. Everything is a direct bolt on. Very fun car to drive and the chasis is much stronger then the supra TT. Autos are everywhere. Manual all the way man.
