Track day pics
Not the usual drift stuff, this is road racing. MattStarr and I went down to the track in Pueblo, CO last month and did what NASA calls a "Hyperdrive". It's a single 20-minute track session with an instructor, designed to basically sink the hook and get people interested in doing a full day or weekend. My buddy/boss races a '95 Mustang in CMC2 so I hang out at NASA events a lot, but this was my first time driving.
My car did really well, especially for being an auto. Matt wasn't in his SC400 due to a blown tire, but he had his cousin's five-speed SC300 so all was not lost. We were pretty well matched in the turns, but I left him pretty good on the straights.
Pics that my buddy took:
We both passed this base-model FWD Lancer with a quickness. My instructor said, "This guy's been out here all day in HPDE1; whatever you do, do NOT follow his line!".

Nice pics Asha'man! I was hoping you or Matt would post a few pics up from your PMI experience. Glad to see you having some fun with the SC. Sure that will help keep you motivated to keep going, the Ren Red looks great, and I assume you had no trouble with the PS / rack after all that effort at the UPAP. I ended up picking up a '95 SC 400 after i met you out there. 97K, and a little knackered, but makes for a nice DD without having to worry about every little thing. Still have my SC 300 and GS 300, they're living the good life in the garage. SC 300 will be converted to a 5-speed over the winter, so at least a little fun is in the works. As I mentioned to Matt, keep me in mind when you are planning more track days, love to join in, or just habg out and get more pics. All the Turkey Day Best, - Brent.

We're fortunate to have not one, but three good road courses within two hours' drive. Add Hastings, NE (~8 hours), Miller Motorsports Park in Utah (~7 hrs?), and Hallett, OK (12 hrs), and we're pretty well set.
For those of you who don't think your car is in the right condition to do something like this, keep in mind that unless you're quite experienced, a stock car will outperform your driving skills for quite a while. My car is lowered on gixxer_drew coilovers with heavy springs, but aside from that I had stock 16" all-seasons and stock everything else, and my car would have handled a better driver than me just fine. I believe Matt's cousin's car (the black SC3) has stock suspension and he was right there with me in the turns. Rather than upgrading your brakes and this and that, just take a couple hundred bucks and go run a track day. You'll soon see what you need to mod and what you don't, and I guarantee the biggest bang for the buck mod you can do is to tighten the nut behind the wheel.
Slid around a little on my stock seat, it's definitely not a cloth bucket, but I don't remember it being too bad.
Brent - Matt mentioned he talked to you, we'll hit you up for sure next time we go out. Likely to be HPR.
