Default How Hot are Your Seat Heaters

I finally got a new relay for my seat heaters, and cold weather is here, so I'm able to use them. They take about 8 minutes before I can feel some heat...is this about how long ya'lls take?

Default Seems slow to me

With it being blow 0 most mornings the last week I’ve started using it everyday. My commute is about 15 minutes and I can start to feel it in about 3-4 minutes. I turn it off right before I get to work because it’s warm enough.

Black94RX-7TT,

I installed aftermarket seat heaters with my leather seat kit. They heat up almost instantly and reach full heat in less than 2mins.

Default poor seat heating power

I must agree with lexus sc's seats heater being really week. Others companies seat heathing devices are much more powerfull (mercedes, cadillac, bmw). Even once they do get warm, they don't get very hot..

For the member who has installed aftermarket system..I would like to know more about that...thank you

yah, i think i have to agree...
the legend's seat heater, although took about same time to warm up, get really hot when it does. good thing about that one is that it also had like 5 settings, so u can adjust it to a lower temp at anytime....

Check for voltage at the elements. You've got a 93, so I couldn't tell you what pins, etc.

mjr24, u may want to turn both heat seats for a while. then go sit in the passenger seat, see if it's hotter than the driver? if it is? it's likely ur driver' side's not workin as well..

if it's on for 10 minutes, u should definitely know its working or not

Default heater retrofit

My 93 sc300 has all the options except heated seats. Does anyone know if the wiring is still there for them? When I replace the front seats, I was hoping to be able to get newer seats with the heating elements in them. Hopefully, this would work and all I would need is the actual switch by the cupholder and then I would just connect plugs.

Can't say for sure, but in all probability, yes. Wire is cheap, and harnesses aren't exactly simple (think of all the colors of wire, colors of plugs, different plugs, and they have to have the same pinouts, splice locations, etc) so harnesses are typically very standard with the exception major changes such as a differnet engine, EMV, CD changers, ABS, etc.

On my '98 there is a relay and a fuse for it under the dash, plus the switch and seat elements, but I'll bet you've got all the wires and plugs in place, which is the hard part anyways.

Bumping an old thread... Has anyone found an aftermarket seat heater that fits the OEM wiring harness? My '94 SC400 didn't come with seat heaters, but there are unused plugs below the shifter cover that are presumably for that. There's probably an unused end below the seat, as well. It would be nice to tie into those with an aftermarket controller and heater.

Also, if there are any brands that are more reliable than others, advice is appreciated. I've found several options in the $90-150 range, as well as suggestions to check with a local upholstery place. I need to get my driver's seat redone, so now is the time to add a seat heater!

^^this is beyond bumping an old thread... this tread is ancient!

More often than not, you can find a set of used seats with heaters on the forums here.
that would probably be the best bet.

also, most aftermarket seat warmers are just universal heaters. youll have to do your own wiring.

edit: Ill give you props for searching though!

I never verified this but someone told me they react to the temperature set on the climate control. I wonder if this is true?

Turn the heat/temp all the way up and try it....
