My daily driver has been my 97 5spd SC 300, which I have loved dearly for eight or so years. I couldn't imagine a car that gave me a better blend of the parameters that are important to me. Fun to drive, reliable, quiet, luxurious, decent mileage, etc. I bought my wife a low mileage 04 LS 430 and it is also an amazing, quiet, powerful, luxurious, reliable, work of automotive excellence. However.............I was scanning Craigslist about a month ago and came across a low mileage, black on black, 05 E55 AMG and hours later it was mine. My plan was to use my SC as my DD and keep the AMG in the garage, but every time I walk out the door, I end up in the Merc. I'm already getting malfunction signals about the tire pressure monitoring system and the GPS locator function, and I went into this knowing that I wouldn't be getting Lexus reliability, but I'm here to tell you, that is one awesome automobile. Trust me, it will impress your passengers. Today's cars are the best ever. Keep an open mind and enjoy the bounty.

Realistically, I would just have a new engine put in my SC400, or have it rebuilt on top of a Tundra 4.7. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
If I had to choose a different car though, it would have to be a BMW 850 CSI. Any year would be fine, as long as it's blue or red. My god though, these cars are expensive! Even today they command Supra TT money. Without a doubt it's going to be a classic someday.

I would either 1jz swap it since mine is 5spd or Ls300, S14, Sc430, e46 M3,Fd3s Rx7
(I used to own a e46 m3 actually 5 years ago) an a Fc3s rx7 about 7 years ago.
Which ever you choose best of luck!

The 840 certainly is much more affordable, generally found for 1/3-1/4 of the price of a CSI. I had the pleasure of test driving an 840 once, and found the entire experience delightful. Everything about that car was better than my SC400; comfier seats, firmer pedals and steering, faster engine response, bigger trunk, and I have a soft spot for 80's styling (when every exotic had that over-exaggerated wedge-like design, and pop-up headlights).
However, there is at least one very big detractor of me switching to an 840: I'm on my way to a 5-speed swap for my SC. 840's only came with an automatic (sound familiar SC400 guys?) although a shiftable automatic was optional halfway through production. The equivalent transmission swap for an 840 is more expensive than a V160. As much as I loved driving the car, I just could not justify the purchase. It would take something as sublime as a 6 speed V12 to get me out of my SC for good.
Let me rephrase this: without a doubt it's going to be collectable someday.
