My SC300 stays right at the half-way point of the scale when the outside temp is above 100 degrees or below freezing.

For me, a properly calibrated scale and needle should be calibrated so that the needle is horizontal or vertical when the value being indicated is "normal." That way you can read at a glance.

For me, the needle stays a little bit above the third mark from the bottom, on both cars. On SC400 after driving a while it goes back down to the third mark, but it stays in the same spot on GS400.

So it would be more like this:

____

____

____<------

____

____ L

Default Normal

Both of my SCs temp stay in the middle. I drove it to CA with AC/80mph without any problem. It is normal for all SCs. If you scare just take off the cover, it will reduce a little.

It looks slightly below half-way when viewed from the normal driving position. But if you move your eye level even with the gauge, then it's half-way.
