the sheer weight of the doors dont help this situation at all. When i drive my car for a while then ride with one of my buddies i always slam their doors cuase im used to shutting mine. Even though youve herd of lube before this thread, try what the members have recommended. Let us know how it goes.

Like I said about the weight. Most luxury cars have the excess weight in the doors to mimic a REAL luxury cars door (by REAL, I mean Bentley, Maybach, top of the lines). When you close it, you get that luxurious sounding "thump".
WD40 works But it's temporary until whatever, corrosion in the hinge dries up and build up again. You can also use White Lithium Grease.

i've owned other lexus, bmw and mercedes. They all have that solid door feeling when you shut it without the heavy door shutting feel. I think it is mostly like due to all these SC have over 100k on them and it's just a wear/tear item due to a very unique hinge. Everyone who claims it is normal, how many miles do you have on your chassis? Mine has 135k. The two at the junk yard were pre-97. The closed so easily we both said WTF??
Thanks,
Sid

With the two doors you thought were lighter on the junkyard cars, were the windows rolled down or at least cracked open a bit? Because I notice my doors are WAY easy to shut when the windows are down or if the roof is open. When everything is closed, it seems to create this cabin pressure making it more difficult to shut the door. Try it out.

Either I'll crack the sunroof open or roll down the driver side a bit and it's much easier to close.
Pay attention to the sunroof when all the windows are up when you close the door.
All that pressure and the roof just pops up when you shut the door.
Most coupes like the bmw will roll their window down a bit when you close the door and will automatically roll it back up.
