Anyway to make door easier to close?
My doors are extremely heavy to shut. I was at a junk yard this weekend and saw one that was extremely light to open and close. What has to be replaced or fixed to make my doors do that?
I was so surprised that I checked out another sc they had in the lot and that door was light too. My buddy came with me and he owned two sc and he said the same thing. I wonder if it is the spring/bearing in the hinge.
Thanks - Sid

Guys, Going to town with lube isnt always the answer with these.
As explained in 100's of previous threads there is a none load bearing "collar" if you will that causes the hinge to constrict at times and prevent free movement.
OP, provide more info and someone will help you, as im sure youve heard of lube before

I would clean them on all sides with a degreaser real good then allow to dry. Then apply WD 40 all over them while opening and closing. If they are popping remove the 10mm bolt on the hinge. Just this one...

i thought it was normal to have a heavy door until i saw the two at the junk yard. my supra door probably weighs pretty close but i'm guessing the way the hinges operate makes the difference. those two sc doors felt like a normal door. we were both surprised. made us think it might be a spring or bearing....

so i'm guessing no one has tried replacing the spring or bearing.. guess the next time i go to a junk yard, i'm going to have to take one off and see if that's a fix. The door doesn't feel like there is much drag but there is a little bit of drag right when the door hits the striker. my good friend is a body man so i'll get him to take a look at adjusting the striker.
if i didn't see two other sc with their doors shutting normally, i wouldn't have believed it either.

My passenger side opens/closes much smoother than the driver's side. I am not surprised given that the previous owner is a Shaq looking like dude and I bet his door shutting was pretty harsh even without trying.
On a second thought, the entire passenger side wasnt as beat up as the drivers side lol.
