Ya know, I actually don't find them to be ugly at all. I think they are CHEAP and of suspicious origin, however not ugly to me ;-)
I do however understand now WHY this board discourages cheap replacements and recommends stock parts. It is wonderfully selfish. Because of this board, 10 years from now, there will be WAY more RESTORED stock lights (like mine now) and tastefully done bodies on Sc's and WAY fewer ebay Chinese light setups and Grotesque kits on cars circulating.
Over all, it is a great forward thinking way to improve the whole lot of Sc cars for the future.
If it were not for this board, I would not have an entire storage space quickly filling up with stock SC parts for restoration as opposed to them rotting away in a junkyard.
In answer to your question. I should have a drivers side light in the next 2 weeks and i am repairing the passenger side as we speak. When I can paint my stock bumper and sides, I will have all of the stock parts put back on. This car should look AWESOME at that point.

They look so much better than i'd anticipated, i am taking them a bit more seriously now.
I am going to let my shop give me a quote on coating them for me. I will ask what method they plan to use, if it sounds impressive, I will let them do it for me.
Thanks

I've done both wet sand + polish and wet sand + clear coat. By far, clear coating is superior to any polish as it is maintenance free for substantially longer period of time. With polishing, hazing comes back after a few months and the process needs to be repeated all over again.

Notice moisture buildup inside my driver side headlight. Two questions.
Is it difficult to remove the headlamp. I understand you need to come in through the wheel well to get the lower bolts.
I bought white 100% silicon. Does it matter or just a cosmetic thing. Will you even be able to see the silicon after everything is buttoned up?

I would just coat them with the Spar Urethane mixture. It's just as good as a clearcoat.
Check it out here if you haven't already...
