Default Question about adjustment of telescopic steering column

In our 93 manual for our Lexus SC300/400 it says that we can set the memory by pressing the 'tilt away auto' button to the on position. I tried that and it never sets it to my position that I put it at. I searched and came up with nothing useful to help with my situation. Anyone have a clue or same problem?

I think you have to set it on the memory seat buttons too. To set mine I usually put the key in, turn to "on" tilt the way I want it, then push the button in. Then save it to one of the memory seat options. Then once I pull out the key, it automatically goes back up by itself. And when I put the key in, it goes to my saved position.

Also to note, when you stick the key in, let the steering wheel stop before turning the key any further than ON (before you crank the engine). Doing so, the steering wheel will not continue to its saved position, you'll have to do it yourself.

Thanks guys, maybe that's why it wasn't working. I need to open up my door panel and connect my memory seat buttons back as I forgot to re-connect them after removing them.

Mine works without memory seat function. I have supra seat, and my wood is carbon fiber (no seat memory buttons). Just leave the key in, turn to on, let the wheel adjust then start your car. If you start it before it does anything it wont do it after!

Not completely sure which worked but it did. Maybe it was that I always turned my car on when I attempted to adjust and set instead of just leaving it in the 'on' position. But maybe it was the memory seat settings as well. Here is the page for anyone in the future that needs help.
