Default Antenna Removal

Decided to replace my oem antenna with an after market soild rubber model. Well I thought all I need to do was loosen the slotted retaining nut on the top of the base. I have been using a slotted screw driver and hitting it with a hammer at an angle. Can't get it to budge. I'm knocking the crap out of it. Is this the correct way to remove the oem antenna or am I messing it up?

That seems to be the correct way https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...is-broken.html
Although I would use an item such as a watch case opener like this

Yeah, I just did mine last week with a flathead and mallet. Make sure you aim away from the car just in case it slips.
Just hit harder and at the edge of the slot so it has more leverage.
