My key isn't on my keychain anymore!!!!!
Guys, i got a BIG problem, today i was on my way out to go and get a part for my SC (im currently not driving it cuz i gotta get it in running condition) but i was also going to take out my battery to get it charged, when i looked down at my key chain and the keys were MISSING!!!
Now i looked all over the house and in the street and all the other cars that i used this weekend. I can't remember when i saw them there last, but worst case is they probably fell off while i was out and i'll probably never get them back.
So my question is, is there a way to change the lock cylinder and the door locks. Can i change just the cylinder and thats all?
It sucks cuz my sc is parked on the street and street cleaning passes on that side on wednesday.
I dont know what to do!

I did the same thing misplaced my key while I was moving and just bought the driver cylinder and the ignition assembly and key, you can't change just the cylinder without the key you just lost for the ignition. It's a real pain to do because you need to grind two bolts so they have notches for a flat head screw driver to take the ignition out

What the hell? It was over $400 in Canada for me to get a key cut to vin.. I luckily found mine after a few months in my oatmeal but regardless why such a difference between countries. Even my spare was $80 and that wasn't cut from vin and I supplied the blank key

the remote part is what makes it expensive, but you can get a regular master key cut for a reasonable price at the dealership. I couldn't imagine spending all the time and money to change out the locks and ignition when I could just get a key cut at the dealer and unlock the door the old way or spring for a remote key. you can even buy knock off lexus blanks on ebay, but if you lost your key you wont have the transponder to swap to make the remote part work. the single button key for SC's use the long blade. not sure about the 3 button keys those may be short.

similiar thing happened to me. Threw my keys on the floor, picked it back up, my lexus keys were no longer on there. looked on the floor and found my broken key. hopefully, OP you get your keys fixed.

yeah you can get them on ebay like I mentioned with a new blank, thats the easy fix for a broken shell, just swap all the insides and the key, or you can swap the inside and have your old key copied to the new blank, they can copy lexus keys at any lexus dealer just take them the old key and the blank.

I had this happen to me before. I found a locksmith who was experienced with this and here's what he did. He took off the passenger door panel and there is a hole within the door that will have the key code if you look through. I'm sure you can have a new key made anywhere with this code. He made me a new key on the spot!
