I own an original 5-speed. I've never seen a 97 5-speed but I have seen plenty of the 98-2000 SC400's. Twice in Los Angeles I've seen other SC300 5-speeds with their drivers: once at a camera shop and driven by a guy in his 30's who had a totally stock car and wasn't aware or interested in what you could do with the car... and several times near my girlfriend's old place since the owner lived there-- also totally stock and owned by an older gentleman.

I've seen SC's around but other than those two occasions I have yet to see another manual model other than in ads. SC400 VVT-i's are even rarer.

It's very true that you see more Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Veyrons than you do SC's. At least in Los Angeles that holds true but that area has a concentration of people with rare cars in general.

But I'll never forget the day I stopped by an Italian deli because I spotted what I thought was a 1980 Renault 5 Turbo when in fact it was a Ford Shogun. There are only seven of those cars in existence. Of course it was Jay Leno who got into it. I still think it's rarer to see unicorns like those.

There is only 2 other SC that I see on a daily basis. Mine is in the best shape and the only one with any kind of mods whatsoever. Expect one guy has a red 95 sc400 wit rims but he blew the tire so now he's on the spare. I have only run into one modded SC

If I'm not mistaken, the SC400 is the only Japanese or Asian coupe sold in America to have a V8 engine.

I'm pretty sure these are general stats for the entire country, not just a certain area. And yes, the SC is incredibly rare; I have seen more GTR's than SC's in Salt Lake City, but when I do see an SC, its usually an SC4 and pretty clean. I think for those who know the value of the car, it is a garage queen/church car lol

^ that.

My car has sit in the garage, protected for almost 12 weeks now. I'm literally going insane from not driving her, an have made up my kind to take a retreat to FL next year for at least a month during jan-feb to avoid this.

Mine is sitting in a garage on my grandparents property at the moment due to the typical crank pulley issue. Since it has been on jackstands, i have seen 2 SC's this week, one a clean bone stock white 92-94 and a Marroon 97+.....yet when my car is on the road, i see none...go figure. lol
