Default clk mirror project conversion

this is the project i have been working on for over a year and a half now-it's a slow process, but it's coming along nicely...check out the pics!- the parts are a combination of a sc 400 mirror and a clk mirror combined from the ground up for a perfect fit and a unique, but stock appearance!

great job! so basically you cut up the OEM lexus mirror?

what did you use to cut it that shape?

also, would we still be able to use the power mirrors after this retro?

once again, keep up the great work!!!

How are you wiring it? Are you relaying it from the flasher or from the light?

a local body shop is doing all the work, using marine tex to bond the two parts together and fabricating slots for screws, sanding, etc,(the portion were the led sits in...the slot,is from the clk and bonded to my stock mirror, once completed, the mirror will function exactly like the stock mirror, and can even be taken apart completely if there is a problem in the future with the unit.........i am wiring the led strip to the signal lights.

Do you think it would be possible to transplant the actual CLK mirror off of the Mercedes to the Lex?

already tried that.........no go- the dimensions are somewhat similar but, the shape overall is completely different. that however, is not the only problem.how would you get the mirror and all other functions from the clk mirror to work w/ our car?

Is the clk lens the same contour as the sc mirror? Or would you have to somehow bend the lens to fit the the contour of the mirror.

whats' up ali-the clk lens has more of a contour than the sc mirror, that's why i had to use the front of the clk mirror and bond it to mine, bending the lens would more than likely damage it.it's a none flexible piece of plastic but,the lens from mercedes costs about $25 bucks so, if anyone is interested, you can try other ways of doing this mod without going the route that i did..........good luk
