Hey Gang,

Ordered the parts, and soon will be attempting the angel eyes headlamp conversion. In preparation I was trying to see if anyone knew the actual diameter of the reflective plastic housing ring that goes around the low beam light assembly.

I will be glueing/fasting the angel eyes to the plastic reflective ring, so if I could get the size of the circle before hand that will allow me to test/experiment with the cast acrylic rod being used to conform to the size of the ring.

I have done lots of research on LED's, resistors, plastic rods, and once the project is underway I will post detailed instructions on the steps involved.

I'm also working on doing this as well... but I can't decide on how bright of an LED to buy... I want mine to be blue, and it looks like I can get 1000mcl, 3000mcl and 10k mcl... I'm tempted to order the brightest ones but I'm wondering that maybe it'll be too bright... any thoughts?

I am undecided as well on the LED brightness. I ordered a whole bunch of different LED's with different mcd. I got one from Radio Shack rated at 1100 which seemed to be ok.

I searched several websites for LED's and decided to go with www.eled.com. They have a good selection of different LED specs and allow you to buy individually rather than having to buy 30+ bulb packages.

I ordered several variances (3mm, 5mm, 1000-3300mcd) of LEDS, both white and red. Once I get them and test them out I will let you know what seems to work the best.

Another helpful hint, use "clear cast acrylic rod" for the plastic angel eye ring. Supposedly its the best material for optical light travel. I ordered mine through usplastic.com.
